Who we are
Team MAKO is a student-led engineering team from Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). We design, build, and race human-powered submarines, bringing together students from different disciplines.
Inspired by the mako shark, known for its speed, agility, and precision, our team embodies the same spirit of determination and continuous improvement. Through hands-on engineering, collaboration, and international competition, we strive to push the boundaries of what we can achieve.

The story behind Team MAKO
HOW WE STARTED...
Team MAKO was founded in 2024 with a shared ambition to represent Singapore at the European International Submarine Races (EISR). What started as a small group of passionate students from the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), with limited resources and no prior experience, soon evolved into a team united by innovation and determination.
Led by former captain Ryan Tan, the team transformed an ambitious idea into a fully functional human-powered submarine through creativity, perseverance, and teamwork. Competing against established teams with decades of experience, MAKO secured an impressive 4th-place overall finish in its debut competition, marking a significant milestone and laying the foundation for the team's future achievements.
